Uzbekistan 27/02/2008 CIS security organization drafts plan to implement UN antiterrorism strategy

"The draft plan comprises five sections, each embracing a versatile set of measures aimed at the practical implementation of the recommendations of the UN Global Counterterrorism Strategy within the framework of the CSTO," head of the CSTO secretariat’s press service Vitaliy Strugovets has told Interfax-AVN

"In particular, these are organizational and legal measures to do with the drafting of model laws and agreements at the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly; information support in organizing the fight against terrorism; joint actions in fighting terrorism; as well as personnel, logistical and financial support," he told the agency.

The draft plan has already passed the procedure of intrastate agreement in member states of the CSTO will be submitted to the CSTO Permanent Council shortly for final coordination.

The CSTO includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
