CIS leaders to gather in Chisinau

The Council of heads of states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will holds its session in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, on 9 October. The CIS leaders will consider over 20 issues on boosting cooperation with the organization in various spheres.
The documents envisage boosting of cooperation of the CIS states in overcoming consequences of financial crisis, deepening integration processes in humanitarian security spheres, optimizing the Commonwealth bodies.
In particular, the CIS leader will consider draft decision on joint measures on overcoming consequences of financial crisis, declaration on support of book and decision on address of the CIS head of states in connection with the 65th anniversary of the World War Two.
The sides also consider draft decision on strengthening of border security and agreement on formation of the Council of the heads of bodies on control over drugs, psychotropic means and precursors, as well as combating their illegal turnover.
Among other issues to be considered at the summit is optimization of structures and bodies of the CIS and increase their efficiency. The CIS leaders will also appoint head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center and presidency in the CIS for next term.
