The meeting will focus on prevention of criminal car business, including infringement on heavyweight vehicle transport.

Huge criminal incomes at minimal risk and costs made the illegal car business very attractive for organized criminal communities. As a result, it is increasing permanently, both its geography and the number of criminals expand, interregional and interstate relations and the channels of sale and legalization of expensive cars are formed, the CIS Executive Committee noted.

Analysis of routes of travel of stolen cars in Russia shows that often they are carried via the Baltic states, Belarus and Ukraine to the Eastern Europe. The stolen vehicles from Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland, in its turn, are carried out by this route.

From 2005 to 2007, over 2,000 cars, which were stolen in other countries, are revealed Russia and 700 in Ukraine.

The problem is actual issues in boundary cooperation of the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan. Openness of borders enables to easily use the territory of Kazakhstan to deliver the stolen cars to the countries of Central Asia. Theft of trucks and construction materials are also one of the problems, which law enforcement bodies of the CIS are facing.

The CIS Interior Ministers will make a decision on measures on further development of joint efforts in combating this type of criminal activities. It is expected that they will approve order on organization of work of scientific-research institute on development of special (non-lethal) weapons for CIS law enforcement bodies.
