CIS Foreign Ministers to gather in Tashkent on 5 April
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on 5 Aril 2013.

During the session, the CIS Foreign Ministers will consider over 10 issues, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said. They will consider issues related to safety, education, sport, tourism, etc.

In particular, the CIS Foreign Ministers will discuss a decision on a draft agreement on mutual acknowledgment of documents on higher and higher professional education. The document is another step on creation single education space in the CIS.

The document envisages that CIS states will acknowledge documents on higher and higher professional education, documents and certificates of educational establishments.

The CIS officials will also consider a plan of measures for 2013-2015 on implementation of strategy on development of physical culture and sport in the CIS up to 2020. The plan stipulates implementation of 99 measures directed at development of mass and youth sport.

Foreign Ministers will discuss issue on announcing 2014 as the Year of Tourism in the CIS area. The year will help to promote cooperation among bodies, which supervise development of tourism in the CIS area.

The participants will also consider a protocol on introduction of changes to agreement on cooperation on formation single education area in the CIS from 17 January 1997.

The officials will discuss and propose to consideration of the CIS leaders draft documents, directed at further developing cooperation in security area.

In particular, they will review a project on concept of cooperation of the CIS in combating crime, committed with use of information technologies.

The draft concept is directed at developing legal and organization bases of cooperation in fighting crime, committed with use of the ICT, and it will serve as foundation for development of programmes and joint action plans.

The CIS Foreign Ministers will consider a draft agreement on order of forming and use of joint specialists’ (experts’) groups of border bodies to fast reactions to threats of security to external borders of the CIS areas.

The group will be created by Council of heads of border forces and it will help to ensure border security, collection of information, analyze threats and inform the authorized bod to adopt corresponding decisions.

The Foreign Ministers will discuss issue on introduction of changes and amendments to regulation on coordination council of heads of tax (financial) investigation bodies of the CIS states.

The session will consider a draft decision on implementation of consultations among the foreign ministries of the CIS states for 2012 and plan for 2013, regulation on consultative council of heads of consular services of the ministries of foreign affairs of the CIS states.

They will also discuss decision on holding next session of the Council of the Foreign Ministers of the CIS. According to the document, it is planned to hold next session of the Council in Minsk, Belarus, in October 2013 before the session of the Council of the heads of states of the CIS.
