The document envisages consideration of opportunity on creation of state structure in the CIS states, which would coordinate activities of their veterans’ organizations and support them financially.
The draft decision also proposes to Coordination Council of International Union “Commonwealth of Veterans’ Public Organizations of the Independent States” to continue protection of social and economic rights of veterans, boost activities on upbringing youth in patriotic mood, etc.
It is expected that after finalization of the document, it will be submitted to the Council of the Heads of States of the CIS for consideration.
The Coordination Council of International Union “Commonwealth of Veterans’ Public Organizations of the Independent States” units 12 public organizations of veterans in the CIS countries, Latvia and Estonia. It unites about 60 million people. Among them are 1 million participants of the World War Two and 500,000 people are disabled veterans.
The council directs its efforts to protection of social and economic rights of veterans, retirees and elderly people.
