Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - This year, Uzbekistan is participating for the first time in the II Hainan Island International Film Festival - “Hainan Island International Film Festival” (HIIFF) in Sanya, which runs from 1 to 8 December.

This year, 1495 applications from 80 countries and regions of the world were submitted to the film festival competition. For the first time at this major film festival, the national pavilion, which was organized by the National Film Commission of Uzbekistan, is presented.

For Uzbekistan, this film festival is important in that a huge number of filmmakers from around the world gather here, and it is possible to demonstrate to them the country’s potential for the production of film products. In particular, representatives of the National Film Commission talk about the uniqueness of domestic film locations, introduce the "rebate" system, which will begin to operate on 1 January 2020.

“We are talking about the development of national cinema tourism, which is now under great emphasis and special attention is paid by the state, in the person of the State Committee for Tourism Development. At the same time, we are working to find potential partners for the implementation of projects in our country here. We hope that we will leave with good results,” Alisher Khasanov, head of the department of the National Film Commission for the Development of Cinema Tourism, said.

The National Film Commission of Uzbekistan held a number of meetings at the film festival. In particular, representatives of Reel BritProduction expressed their willingness to come to Uzbekistan this spring to discuss a plan for future filming.

The Film and Television Professional Association of North American is ready to organize info tours for producers in Uzbekistan in order to familiarize themselves with the film locations of the country.

Also during the film festival, negotiations were held with the Turkish Film Commission, which expressed its willingness to cooperate with the National Film Commission of Uzbekistan. Turkish producers are interested in filming in Uzbekistan, as the country has unique architectural attractions.

Another important factor is the similarity of cultures. In turn, the Chinese company Arri China offered the possibility of renting professional latest-generation movie cameras - ARRI ALEXA MINI LF and ARRI ALEXA MINI 65 and their delivery to Uzbekistan.

Recall that the national pavilion at the second International Film Festival in Hainan was organized as part of the implementation of the decree of the head of state “On measures to further develop the tourism sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan” with the support of the State Committee for Tourism Development and the Youth Union of Uzbekistan.
