Cinema Days-2020 to be held in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 August 2020, at a meeting chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, dedicated to easing quarantine measures in the country, the head of state instructed the Uzbekkino National Agency and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan to restore the activities of theaters and cinemas as soon as possible.

In this regard, in order to adequately celebrate the 29th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uzbekkino has approved the program of the days of cinema "Cinema Days-2020". According to the program, a series of events is planned, designed not only to acquaint viewers with Uzbek cinema, but also to tell about the ongoing reforms in the field.

The main event will be the demonstration of domestic film premieres, as well as new series. Along with this, a number of cinemas will be opened in Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand, Gala-Asia. Also, within the framework of the action, 8 cinema cars will be awarded to the branches of the Republican Film Distribution Center in the regions.

According to the program, a series of events is planned, designed not only to acquaint viewers with Uzbek cinema, but also to tell about the ongoing reforms in the field. The main event will be the demonstration of domestic film premieres, as well as new series. Along with this, a number of cinemas will open. Also, within the framework of the action, 8 cinema cars will be awarded to the branches of the Republican Film Distribution Center in the regions.

At the same time, it should be noted that on the eve of the holiday, the premiere of the film "Tengiz" will take place in Nukus in the Karakalpak language. In addition, within the framework of Cinema Days-2020, the first issue of the film magazine and the presentation of the new website Uzbekkino are planned. There will be a solemn presentation of certificates to the winners of the "Debut" short film screenplay competition, an online ceremony for the admission of seven young filmmakers of Uzbekistan to VGIK, as well as a youth Movie Party. Also, seminars, trainings and creative meetings of young people with masters of domestic cinema will take place.

Within the framework of Cinema Days-2020, it is also planned to show the legendary film directed by Shukhrat Abbasov "The whole mahalla says this", the first screening of which took place 60 years ago.

It is worth noting especially other events of the "Cinema Days-2020", which will expand its geography and bring the project to international platforms.

On 20 August, at the summer cinema of the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Uzbek jubilee film "The Adventures of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" was screened.

An unprecedented event will be the meeting of the first in the history of Uzbek cinematography, the International Expert Council on Cinematography. Filmmakers from Uzbekistan, Russia, Poland, USA, Germany, France, China and South Korea will take part in it.

This year it is also planned to hold the Oltin Humo Film Award and the Khudoybergan Devanov Festival of Short Films.
