Chinese Foreign Ministry: China to take all necessary measures to protect the legitimate and fair rights and interests of Chinese enterprises

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Commenting on the decision of the British government to ban the use of 5G equipment from Huawei, on 15 July at a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying noted that this decision would seriously damage the interests of Chinese companies and shatter mutual trust in Sino-British cooperation.

Hua Chunying stressed that this is not a problem for an individual enterprise or sector. This is the problem of politicizing economic and technological issues. This is a clear threat to the security of Chinese investment in the UK. This question is related to our confidence in whether the UK market can remain open, fair and non-discriminatory. China will comprehensively and seriously consider this incident and take all necessary measures to protect the legitimate and fair rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.

According to Hua Chunying, over the past 20 years, the British side and Huawei have established very good cooperation, of course, not in the interests of Huawei, but in the interests of the British side itself. Likewise, if the British side decides to prohibit the use of Huawei equipment, it would harm the British side's own interests.

“The world is big and the UK is relatively small. I think this ban will not prevent Huawei from developing and becoming stronger,” Hua Chunying said.
