Chinese firm to supply equipment to Uzbek electricity project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China’s TBEA Co. LTD. won a tender on supply of equipment to the project “Construction of high-voltage line 500 kV Talimardjan thermal power station – Sogdiana substation with 500 kV substation at Talimrdjan thermal power station”.

According to Uzbekenergo state joint stock company, eleven companies from various countries participated at the tender, but seven of them failed to meet technical specification.

The Uzbek company said that the contract on equipment supply was awarded to TBEA Co. LTD. The sum of contract is US$9.941 million. Within the contract, TBEA Co.LTD. will supply nine reactors and four autotransformers within fifteen months.

Within the project it is planned to construct new substation at Talimardjan thermal power station and 218 km high-voltage line to Sogdiana substation from the station. The line will pass through Kashkadarya and Samarkand region.

These measures will result in the reduction of the electricity outage rate, reduction of losses in the electricity transmission network, increased volume of electricity supplied to residential and business consumers, and new opportunities to increase the export electricity to the region.

The project cost is US$152.8 million, of which US$33.3 million will be own resources of Uzbekenergo and US$119.5 million – the loan of the World Bank. The project implementation will be completed in 2013.
