Chinese envoy, Uzbek officials hold talks in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan Zhang Xiao paid a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on 24 May 2011.
The press service of the Uzbek ministry said that the sides discussed issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and China. It was said that the state visit of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov to China lifted the relations to new level.
During the meeting the sides considered issues of the Uzbek-Chinese cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats.
China is one of the largest trade partners of Uzbekistan. China occupied the third place among trade partners of Uzbekistan with 8.1% share in the first quarter of 2011.
Trade turnover between two states grew from US$407.6 million in the first quarter of 2010 to US$463.6 million in the same period of 2011.
