Chinese envoy says Uzbekistan is priority of Chinese foreign policy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Developing relations with Uzbekistan has always been given to priority in Chinese foreign policy, Ambassador of China to Uzbekistan Zhang Xiao said at the reception dedicated to the celebration of the 63d anniversary of the founding of the PRC.

“On 1 October we welcome in the 63d birthday of People’s Republic of China. During the 63 years, China has gone through an extraordinary course, and made remarkable achievements of development. The living standard of people has improved significantly, comprehensive national strength has increased rapidly, and its international influence has risen dramatically. Practice has proved, that the development of China relies on the reform and opening up, on which must also invariably rely its future development. At the same time, China is also committed to drive the world’s common development through its own peaceful development,” he said.

“It is already more than a year since I have assumed the post of Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Uzbekistan. During this period of time what I’ve seen and heard have increasingly impressed me, that under the wise leadership of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Islam Karimov, Uzbekistan, chosen the path of development, which suits its own national conditions, is making constant progress in achieving national independence, revitalization and economic growth,” envoy said.

“As a friendly neighbor and strategic partner, Chinese government and people are sincerely glad to see all of this, and developing relations with Uzbekistan has always been given to priority in Chinese foreign policy,” he added.

“This year is the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uzbekistan, and it’s also the harvest year in the history of bilateral relations. In June, during the visit of President Islam Karimov to China, two leaders declared the establishment of strategic partnership between China and Uzbekistan, which has brought the bilateral relations into a new stage of development,” Chinese diplomat said.

He said: “Recently, Vice premier Hui Liangyu has successfully visited Uzbekistan, two sides have been reached a series of agreements on trade, investment, agriculture and new energy, which has enriched the content of the bilateral strategic partnership”.

“Currently, both China and Uzbekistan face various new threats and challenges regionally and globally. In this condition, the establishment of the China-Uzbekistan strategic partnership goes with the stream of time, accords with the long-term and fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples,” Zhang Xiao said.

“As a close neighbor of Central Asia, China supports all efforts that are conductive to safeguarding peace and stability in this region and promoting economic and social development in all the countries of this region, opposes all, that hinders the regional peace, stability and development. China is ready to make contributions to peace, stability and prosperity in the region,” envoy said.
