Chinese envoy says China to increase investments to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan Zhang Xiao denied reports of some media that China plans to freeze its investments into Uzbekistan. He said that the scale of the Chinese finances and loans to Uzbekistan will only increase.

Chinese envoy stated that the trade-economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and China has been dynamically developing for last 21 years. The trade turnover between two nations rose 50 times compared to the beginning of the cooperation. He said that trade turnover between two nations rose by 60% year-on-year to US$2.54 billion, which is equal to the volume of 2011.

Zhang Xiao underlined that trade and economic relations between the two countries are entirely equal and mutually beneficial. Their fruitful development brings tangible benefits to two nations. There are no subjective or objective reasons to slow down or even “freeze” Chinese investments into economy of Uzbekistan.

Ambassador said that one of important items of the agenda of negotiations with the leadership of Uzbekistan during the upcoming state visit of the Chinese President Xi Jinping is to exchange opinion on expanding economic cooperation, first of all, direct investments. Envoy said that there are all conditions for that and it is expected Chinese investment boom in Uzbekistan.

Zhang Xiao said that certain assertions in publications are absurd and meaningless as they will not impact rapid development of comprehensive relations. He said that some like these relations and some not. He said that two nations selected this path of cooperation and they will follow this path firmly no matter what.
