Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Chinese companies will work on improving the water supply for irrigated lands in four regions of Uzbekistan.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree concerning the implementation of projects to reconstruct irrigation infrastructure in the Bukhara, Namangan, Surkhandarya, and Kashkadarya regions, with the participation of the Export-Import Bank of China.
The document confirms that a technical and economic feasibility study has been developed for two major projects: "Reconstruction of irrigation infrastructure in Bukhara, Namangan, and Surkhandarya regions," with an estimated cost of US$160 million, and "Reconstruction of irrigation infrastructure in Kashkadarya region," at US$60 million.
Negotiations for the implementation and financing of these projects were held with the Export-Import Bank of China and large Chinese companies.
The China Exim Bank will provide concessional loans for the implementation of these projects, with the loan amount to be determined after the negotiations.
The general contractor for the irrigation infrastructure reconstruction project in Bukhara, Namangan, and Surkhandarya regions is CITIC Construction Co. Ltd.
For the infrastructure reconstruction project in Kashkadarya region, the general contractors selected are CITIC Construction Co. Ltd. and China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd.
