Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Recently, the roadmap for the introduction of new generation broadband aviation communication technologies in civil aviation in China was officially published.

The document is aimed at actively promoting the use of new generation broadband aviation communications, creating combined general and special purpose 5G networks in the civil aviation sector. This was announced today by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), Xinhua News Agency reported.

“For the first time, CAAC has clearly outlined a systematic approach to the introduction of a new generation of broadband aviation communications, represented by the 5G format, in Chinese civil aviation,” Zhang Ruiqing, deputy head of the CAAC Air Traffic Control Bureau, said at today’s briefing. According to him, new technologies will be the key to digital modernization of the industry and the emergence of "smart civil aviation".

The roadmap assumes three stages for the introduction of new generation broadband aviation communication technologies in civil aviation in China: the nearest stage / 2021-2025 /, the middle stage / 2025-2030 / and the distant stage / 2030-2035 /.

The next stage should be a period of pilot implementation of a new generation broadband aviation communication system in all areas of civil aviation.

The main goal of the middle stage is to build a new generation of infrastructure for combined intelligent networks of general and special purpose based on a system of broadband aviation communications, as well as ensuring the intelligent interconnection of key functional elements, including dispatch services, airports and airlines.

At a distant stage, it is planned to form an integrated system of broadband aviation communications of a new generation in the air and on the ground with full coverage of the entire industry, laying a solid foundation for the infrastructure modernization of China’s civil aviation.
