Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Chinese telecommunications giant China Unicom has officially opened its representative office in Uzbekistan.
Liu Jinbao, General Manager for Corporate Development at China Unicom Hong Kong Operation, stated that the company aims to strengthen business ties and enhance connectivity between Uzbekistan and China. This marks China Unicom as the first Chinese telecom operator to establish a presence in Uzbekistan.
The company plans to provide advanced and innovative telecommunication services tailored to local needs. Liu Jinbao emphasized China Unicom’s commitment to increasing investment in Uzbekistan.
The company has outlined plans to develop a Central Asian network to boost information exchange between China and the region, focusing on the expansion of fiber-optic networks and intelligent computing systems.
Zhao Fei, General Manager of China Unicom (Rus) Operation, highlighted Uzbekistan’s strategic importance for China in Eurasia and as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. He stressed that delivering high-quality services remains a top priority for the company.
China Unicom is the third-largest mobile operator in China and ranks sixth globally. The company operates extensive terrestrial and submarine cable networks connecting more than 80 countries.
