Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China promised to make every effort to release effective and safe vaccines against COVID-19 as early as possible.
Yang Sheng, official spokesman for the State Administration of Medicines Supervision of the People’s Republic of China, said that 11 Chinese vaccines against COVID-19 are currently undergoing clinical trials, and four are in the final stages of trials, which are being carried out by China together with foreign partners.
Two inactivated COVID-19 vaccines developed by China National Biotec are currently undergoing Phase III clinical trials in the Middle East. More than 35,000 people have been vaccinated, Wu Yuanbin, a spokesman for the PRC Ministry of Science and Technology, said. He noted that at the moment, the tests indicate high safety and the absence of severe side effects in the vaccines.
Another inactivated COVID-19 vaccine developed by Sinovac Biotech is in Phase III clinical trials in South America and Southeast Asia.
Another adenoviral vector vaccine, jointly developed by the Institute of Military Medicine at the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences and CanSino Biologics, has been approved for Phase III clinical trials in several countries in Europe and Asia.
