Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The construction of the China National Biathlon Center and the National Cross-Country Skiing Center, which will occupy a prominent place at the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing in 2022, have been completed.
China’s state-run news agency Xinhua said construction was completed today as planned. The facilities are part of the Zhangjiakou cluster. An elevated walkway, dubbed the "Jade Ring" by the Olympic organizing committee, connects these facilities to the National Ski Jumping Center. Competitions in 2022 will be held in three main clusters - Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou.
The organizing committee said that all facilities will be completed by the end of the year. At the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, 11 sets of medals in biathlon will be played, and 12 in cross-country skiing. The International Biathlon Union and the China Biathlon Association recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding ahead of the Games, which covers the promotion of sports in China.
The start of the Olympic Games in Beijing is scheduled for 4 February 2022. The new biathlon track will host the 8th stage of the new season.
