The 1833-kilometer China-Central Asia natural gas pipeline is China's largest and the sole operational onshore cross-border gas supply channel by now, though the country also runs China-Russia crude oil pipeline in the northeast China, China-Kazakhstan crude oil pipeline in northwest part of the country.

The pipeline starts at the border areas between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in the west, winding across central part of Uzbekistan and southern Kazakhstan, then enters China at Korgas in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to join in the second West-East natural gas pipeline in the area.

The pipeline's first line entered operation in December 2009, while the second line came on line in October 2010. By the end of 2010, the second West-East pipeline had received some 4.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas from the central Asian countries.
