Economy 29/06/2009 China calls for closer economic ties with Uzbekistan
Uzbek First Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Azimov and Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang has called for closer economic ties between China and Uzbekistan. He was speaking during a meeting with Uzbek First Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Azimov in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent on Saturday.

Li called on the two sides to capitalize on the progress made in their bilateral cooperation. And he called on both countries to take full advantage of the fact that their economies are highly complementary and that they are geographically close.

For his part, Azimov said Li’s visit to Uzbekistan is an important step toward putting into practice the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. Azimov said his country has been closely watching China’s economic development and would like to learn from its successful experience. After the meeting, the two attended the signing ceremony of 11 government and corporate bilateral agreements on the economy, tourism and health.
