Children of the CIS visit the Senate of the Oliy Majlis

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is hosting the 8th International Cultural and Educational Forum of the CIS member states "Children of the Commonwealth".

On 23 June, as part of the forum, about a hundred schoolchildren and their mentors from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan visited the upper chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

A meeting was held in the Senate building with the participation of the Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva and the parliamentarian.

Welcoming the young guests, the Chairperson of the Senate noted that it was a great honor to organize and hold this important international forum in Uzbekistan.

- As we witnessed at yesterday’s opening ceremony, the delegation of each state came to the forum carefully prepared, having various presentations, ideas and proposals in their luggage to discuss them with their peers from the Commonwealth countries. The agenda of the event is varied, interesting and eventful. Here you will get acquainted with the presentations of national traditions and customs of the peoples of the CIS member states.

Your peers from Uzbekistan have already demonstrated samples of national art, handicrafts, culture, dishes, and organized exhibitions. We hope that in the State Museum of the History of the Timurids, which you visited today, you have received a comprehensive understanding of the great historical past of Uzbekistan.

Also yesterday you had the opportunity to communicate with members of the Youth Parliament. I hope that such a dialogue will allow us to promote new initiatives and ideas that meet the interests of young people,” Tanzila Narbayeva emphasized.

During the open dialogue, the forum participants asked the Chairman of the Senate their questions on various topics. In particular, questions were asked such as ensuring youth employment in Uzbekistan, environmental problems and ways to solve them, preserving values and traditions in the context of globalization, citizens’ appeals to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and their solution, further strengthening parliamentary ties between our countries.

During the dialogue with the senators, representatives of the younger generation of the CIS countries were acquainted with the activities of the Senate, its composition, senators, and changes in legislation.

Then the guests visited the sights of the capital, in particular, visited the Navruz ethnographic park.
