Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A minor Uzbek citizen who had been left without parental care in the Russian Federation has been returned to Uzbekistan, according to the National Agency for Social Protection of Uzbekistan.
On 22 January, the child arrived in Tashkent, accompanied by staff from the Temporary Detention Center for Juvenile Offenders under the Main Directorate of the Samara Region Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The child has been temporarily placed at the Center for Social and Legal Assistance for Minors under the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs.
In 2023, the minor traveled to Russia with their mother for labor migration. However, during a raid for violating residency rules in Russia, the child was returned to Uzbekistan.
The parents’ current whereabouts remain unknown.
The "Inson" Social Assistance Center is now taking measures to find alternative care arrangements for the child.
