Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Nodirbek Abdusattorov from Uzbekistan became the world champion in rapid chess. The tournament was held in Warsaw (Poland).
After 13 rounds, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Magnus Carlsen, Ian Nepomniachtchi and Fabiano Caruana scored 9.5 points each.
In a tie-break, 17-year-old Nodirbek Abdusattorov played against Ian Nepomnyashy from Russia. The first match ended in a draw. In the second match, Abdusattorov defeated his rival and became the champion.
The third place was taken by the reigning world champion in classical chess, Norwegian Magnus Carlsen.
Thus, Nodirbek Abdusattorov became the youngest world rapid champion in history.
