Changes to Constitution of Uzbekistan boost activity of Social-Democrats
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The concept on further deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society in Uzbekistan is fundamental document directed at introducing novelties to all spheres of life and further deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society, which will also broaden opportunities of political parties. Taking into account, the parties of Uzbekistan started to boost their activity on determining their plans in this area.

Institute for Studying Civil Society in cooperation with fraction of Social-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Adolat” in Legislative Chamber organized a seminar “Tasks of Social-Democratic Party “Adolat” in new stage of democratic reforms in the country”. The seminar was attended by the members of party fraction at Legislative Chamber, MPs in local Council of Deputies, party members, as well as expert society.

Representative of parties noted that the priority of party will be ensuring rule of law, as well as increasing party impact to work of executive structure in all levels.

Oysha Ohunova, member of Adolat party, said: “Today, it is necessary effectively use authorities and functions, written in Constitution and other legislative acts, of political parties and their deputies’ union in places to ensure rule of law, implementation of socially important programmes in the region of the country, especially in rural areas.”

Participants underlined that the Concept, proposed by the Uzbek President, is directed at ensuring transparency, openness and accountability in governance, implementation of which will help to speed up information exchange between civil and public bodies, active participation of society in forming and adopting decision on important issues of social-economic development, public control over their activities.

Akmal Samdjanov, Deputy of Regional Deputies Council from Adolat, said: “In new stage, the attention is paid to activity of regional structures of parties at local Councils of Deputies on boosting their activities and increasing party impact to work of executive power of all levels on solving concrete social-economic development tasks in the regions.”

He said that it is also important to foster work of fraction members on interaction with party MPs groups to reveal shortages in places, which hinder to increasing effectiveness of social reforms. He said that these problems should be openly and constructively discussed at the session of the fractions at Legislative Chamber and local Councils of Deputies.

Akmal Samdjanov noted that the political parties should closely interact with voters in their regions. In particular, it is important to strengthen work of party divisions at all levels in partnership with self-governing bodies and other institutes of civil society.

Within the event, the party developed and vowed single position of Adolat fraction for further promotion of its programme goals and tasks in law making process and implementation of legislative initiatives of the Uzbek President, vowed at the Concept on further deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society in Uzbekistan.
