Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the 54th plenary session of the Senate, the Law "On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of state management in the sphere of education within the framework of administrative reforms" was discussed.

As is known, in recent years, within the framework of ongoing administrative reforms, the system of state management in the field of higher education, science and innovation, preschool and school education has been improved, and the priority directions of the activities of several republican executive authorities in this field have been determined.

At the same time, the transformation within the framework of administrative reforms of several republican executive authorities, the transfer of functions and tasks of the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Education Quality under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Agency for the Development of Presidential, Creative and Specialized Schools under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan to separate ministries, as well as the reorganization of the Fund for the Support of Innovative Development and Innovative Ideas requires amendments to legislative acts to clarify their official names and powers.

This Law introduces changes to a number of legislative acts, providing for the clarification of the names and powers of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, the Agency for Preschool Education under the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the name of the Fund for Financing Science and Support of Innovation.

In addition, amendments to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Education" provide for the introduction of a new system for external evaluation of state and non-state educational organizations providing secondary special, professional, higher and postgraduate education, advanced training and retraining of personnel, as well as the distribution of powers for licensing activities in the field of non-state educational services between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Senators noted that this Law serves to form an integrated system of republican executive authorities in the field of higher education, science and innovation, preschool and school education, as well as to improve the quality of educational services provided by state and non-state educational organizations.

The Law was approved by the senators.
