Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva  held a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of Uzbek-Kazakh cooperation in the context of developing inter-parliamentary relations and giving additional impetus to interstate relations.

Welcoming Tanzila Narbayeva, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his gratitude for the support and active participation in an important initiative - the Dialogue of Women in Central Asia, held today in Astana.

The Head of the Republic of Kazakhstan expressed confidence that the results of the first meeting of this platform will contribute to the intensification of intra-regional interaction and will make it possible to develop long-term solutions in the field of ensuring gender equality and sustainable development in Central Asia.

President Tokayev noted that the visit of the Chairperson of the Senate is a clear example of the special nature of bilateral cooperation and fully corresponds to the level of strategic partnership and alliance between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

- We highly appreciate the results of our state visit to Uzbekistan in December last year. On 3 March this year, an informal meeting was held in Shymkent, during which the most pressing issues of interaction between our countries were discussed. It is gratifying that well-coordinated work is being carried out not only at the governmental level, but also inter-parliamentary diplomacy is actively developing. Therefore, I welcome the holding of the second Inter-Parliamentary Forum next year in Samarkand, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

In turn, Tanzila Narbayeva thanked for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

– We highly appreciate the large-scale reforms that are being carried out under your leadership in Kazakhstan. I would like to congratulate you on the successful holding of major events that contributed to the political modernization of the entire system of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is confidently following the path of progressive reforms and the people actively support the course that you are implementing. - noted the Chairperson of the Senate.

In conclusion, the Head of State expressed warm greetings and good wishes to the leader of Uzbekistan.
