Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva held talks with UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Belen Sanz Luque, who is in Uzbekistan to participate in the Asian Women’s Forum held in Samarkand.

During the meeting, it was especially noted that Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the UN and its specialized structures has reached the highest level in the history of relations. It was emphasized that especially in recent years, cooperation with UN Women to ensure gender equality, women’s rights and their empowerment has reached a new stage.

During the dialogue, issues of further strengthening cooperation between the Republican Commission on Enhancing the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and Family and UN Women through the implementation of joint projects were discussed.

In particular, an exchange of views took place on issues of gender budgeting, gender statistics and gender audit, mutual learning of experience, and implementation of best practices.

In order to further develop relations, it was decided to develop an appropriate document on cooperation, in which specific directions will be defined.
