Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 October, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Erlan Koshanov, who is in our country on a working visit.

It was emphasized that Uzbeks and Kazakhs have a common past and present, dreams and aspirations, and play an important role in joining efforts to resolve issues not only between our countries, but also on the regional and international agenda.

It was noted with great satisfaction that thanks to mutual trust and the strong political will of our Presidents, relations based on strategic partnership and alliance have risen to a high level.

At the meeting, attention was paid to trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. It was noted that in recent years the volume of mutual trade has increased significantly. In January-August of this year alone, trade turnover reached US$2.8 billion.

It was also noted during the dialogue that cooperation projects are being implemented between leading enterprises of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, and there is every reason to increase trade volume to US$10 billion.

At the same time, the discussions were based on issues of expanding interparliamentary cooperation and enriching it with practical content.

Thus, the parties expressed confidence that the intensification of the work of the Interparliamentary Cooperation Council will ensure the practical implementation of bilateral agreements.

It was emphasized that the multifaceted cooperation of our countries is a driver for the development of Central Asia, and work within the framework of inter-parliamentary structures contributes to the unification of neighbors in our region.

During the conversation, a proposal was made to intensify contacts within the framework of the Interparliamentary Cooperation Council, as well as the Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, exchange experience in the field of lawmaking, and establish an effective dialogue between young parliamentarians.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to create the necessary mechanism in legislation to support the implementation of agreements reached at a high level between our countries.

Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Koshanov left an entry in the book of honorary guests of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
