Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matvienko held a meeting with the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov.

The parties discussed the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation between the two countries.

The trusting relationship between the presidents of the two countries and the active development of interparliamentary dialogue were noted.

Issues of trade and economic cooperation, expanding relations at the regional level, as well as interaction in the field of education were discussed.

The importance of creating an Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the State Duma and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was emphasized.

According to Valentina Matvienko, thanks to Nuriddin Ismoilov’s visit to Moscow and the expansion of formats for interaction between parliamentarians, a big step will be taken to strengthen cooperation in various fields.

The Chairperson of the Federation Council invited female parliamentarians to take part in the Eurasian Women's Forum this year.

Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismoilov believes that every meeting of parliamentarians is useful and full of content. “We appreciate what Russian legislators are doing to develop relations between Russia and Uzbekistan.”
