Certification of Leapmotor cars suspended in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan Inspection for Technical Regulation has temporarily suspended the acceptance of applications for the certification of passenger cars from the Chinese brand Leapmotor.
This decision was based on the results of tests conducted on the Leapmotor C16 model on March 10 at the laboratory of the state institution "Uzbek Scientific Testing Center for Quality Control" (UzTest). According to the inspection's findings, the vehicle does not meet the United Nations' international safety standards. Specifically, the level of wideband electromagnetic interference produced by the vehicle exceeds the permissible limit by 16 times.
A letter from the company Euro Prof Test dated 28 March also stated that the Leapmotor C16 does not meet the requirements for electromagnetic interference levels. The inspection believes this may negatively affect the vehicle's electronic systems and, in some cases, cause malfunctions.
Due to these deficiencies, the inspection recommended that the certifying body suspend the acceptance of applications for the certification of all Leapmotor models until the identified issues are resolved.
Additionally, the agency urged consumers to choose vehicles that meet international standards and to purchase cars only from official dealers.
It is worth noting that vehicle conformity assessments in Uzbekistan are conducted according to the technical regulations on the safety of wheeled vehicles, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers' decree of 25 April 2017 (No. 237).
The suspension of certification effectively means that cars of this brand cannot be imported into the country.
