Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Bo Anderson, an internationally recognized expert in the automotive industry, is concluding his tenure as CEO of UzAuto Motors and UzAuto Motors Powertrain, roles he has held for the past three years.
A ceremonial event was held to mark the end of his tenure, during which Mr. Anderson’s significant contributions to the development of Uzbekistan’s automotive industry were acknowledged.
Under his leadership, UzAuto Motors achieved impressive results. The company’s plants in Andijan and Khorezm regions increased the production of passenger cars, significantly improved product quality, and expanded the model range.
The year 2023 was particularly successful, with the company’s production lines rolling out 395,400 vehicles, a 20% increase over 2022. High production levels are expected to continue this year.
Thanks to the efforts of the entire team, Uzbekistan’s automotive industry has emerged as a leader in the CIS and Central Asia in passenger car production. Furthermore, Uzbekistan’s market has become the second-largest for the Chevrolet brand globally.
One of the key achievements was the mass production of two new models — the Chevrolet Tracker (crossover) and the Chevrolet Onix (sedan). These projects were made possible by the implementation of the modern GM GEM (Global Emerging Markets) platform.
Production in Uzbekistan covers the entire operational cycle: stamping, welding, painting, and assembly. The UzAuto Motors Powertrain plant in Tashkent manufactures all the engines. The localization level of production in the country has surpassed 50%, thanks to the launch of key component manufacturing within Uzbekistan.
Financially, Bo Anderson’s leadership has also delivered significant results, with the company’s average net income exceeding 6% during this period.
Additionally, in recent years, UzAuto Motors successfully conducted an IPO (Initial Public Offering), a major milestone in the company’s development, largely due to Mr. Anderson’s effective leadership, as one of the most respected managers in the global automotive industry.
Bo Anderson emphasized the collective effort in these achievements:
"All our successes over these 3.5 years are the result of the teamwork of engineers, managers, foremen, and, of course, the workers. People are the main asset of any company. I am proud that we managed to implement a KPI system that motivates each employee and allows for the objective and transparent assessment of their results."
