Central Bank to provide loans to banks with liquidity deficit
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has been given the right to lend to commercial banks with a liquidity deficit.

On 3 January 2018, the law “On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with improvement of activities of certain state bodies, and adoption of additional measures to ensure protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms” was signed.

The Law “On the Central Bank” was amended. According to the amendments, the Central Bank has the right, under the conditions established by it, to give loans to the banks.

Credit resources will be provided on the security of gold, currency values, government debt, commercial bills, etc.

Also, the Central Bank can provide short-term loans to banks without collateral if there is a liquidity shortage in banks, and there are no collateral assets.

The regulator will publish the procedure and conditions for lending to the bank in the media and on its official website.
