Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Earlier it was reported that starting from 1 July 2020, banknotes (paper money) with a nominal value of 200 and 500 soums have lost their validity as legal tender, instead of them coins with a nominal value of 200 and 500 soums were issued. 

Information was also provided that the term for exchanging banknotes with a par value of 200 and 500 soums at the cash desks of banks was extended, taking into account the needs of the population.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan remind citizens and entrepreneurs who still have 500 and 200 soum bills in their hands.

In accordance with the decision of the Board of the Central Bank from 9 January 2021 on the establishment of the deadline for the exchange of old-style banknotes and coins with denominations of 50, 100, 200 and 500 soums by the Central Bank's cash settlement centers for valid banknotes - January 1, 2022:

Old-style coins and banknotes of 50, 100, 200 and 500 soums, you can exchange for banknotes in circulation until 1 January 2022 at the Cash settlement centers of the Central Bank in the localities.
