Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to put into circulation banknotes of 5,000 soums and 10,000 soums of new designs.

The issue of introducing new designs of banknotes was considered at a meeting of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

Senators will consider the issue of approving the updated samples of banknotes at a plenary session on 26 August 2021.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan is developing a new design of banknotes.

It should be noted that 5,000 soum banknotes were put into circulation in June 2013, and 10,000 soums in March 2017.
