Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Central Bank of Uzbekistan announced that the sale and purchase of old-design US$100 banknotes (issued before 2009) continue without any restrictions in the country’s banks.
"The status of old-design US$100 banknotes as legal tender remains unchanged in every country," the Central Bank stated.
The Central Bank urged citizens and entrepreneurs not to trust inaccurate information circulating on social media and to rely only on official sources.
The regulator also recommended that individuals facing difficulties exchanging old-design US$100 banknotes at bank exchange offices contact the Central Bank’s hotline (71-200-00-44) or its regional branches for assistance.
According to national legislation, the purchase and sale of foreign currency in Uzbekistan can only be conducted through local banks, both for residents and non-residents.
