Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held at the Central Bank of Uzbekistan with a delegation of the international payment system Mastercard, headed by regional director Yasemin Bedir.

The main purpose of the meeting is to determine further steps to implement the points of the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding.

During the dialogue, the importance of further digitalization of payments, measures to ensure cybersecurity and improve the financial literacy of the population was noted. The parties noted the importance of switching to cashless payments, which will increase the transparency and security of payments made.

In addition, Mastercard representatives presented previously launched projects that are aimed at the widespread introduction of digital technologies in the banking system and are successfully implemented in countries near and far abroad.

The parties expressed interest in holding joint educational events aimed at improving the skills of specialists in matters of cybersecurity and financial literacy.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a joint roadmap to create an ecosystem of payments within the framework of the Memorandum.

On 22 June 2022, the Central Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with Mastercard, which is aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of payment systems, cybersecurity and improving financial literacy.
