Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has officially accredited the representative office of Citibank AS, according to a statement released by the regulator’s press service.

Citibank AS is a subsidiary of the American financial giant Citibank and is registered in Türkiye. The Citibank Group provides a wide range of banking services — from retail to corporate and investment banking — in more than 180 countries worldwide.

According to the Central Bank, the new representative office is being established to explore Uzbekistan’s financial market and to deepen cooperation with government agencies and financial institutions across the country.

This move follows high-level discussions held in June 2025 between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and a delegation from Citigroup, led by Chief Client Officer David Livingstone.

During the meeting, both sides discussed expanding cooperation in key areas such as investment attraction, export financing, and the implementation of public-private partnership (PPP) projects.

It was noted that Citigroup plans to open a representative office in Tashkent in the near future, which is expected to create additional opportunities for enhanced collaboration across strategic sectors.
