Central Bank: departmental interests should not adversely affect development of other industries

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has indicated to the State Tax Committee that there are some disputable issues in the provision on the undisputed write-off of tax debts from plastic cards.

On 17 December, a draft decision of the State Tax Committee and the Central Bank on the approval of the Regulation on the procedure for the undisputable write-off of tax debt from bank plastic cards of individuals was published on the Single portal of interactive state services.

In connection with this, the Central Bank said that it sent its comments to the project developer - the State Tax Committee, the regulator said.

“Due to the lack of a legal and transparent mechanism for the indisputable write-off of tax debts from bank cards of individuals, the Central Bank considers it necessary to ensure that the draft document complies with legislation, in particular with the provisions of the Civil Code,” the Central Bank notes.

“No matter how good the intentions are, departmental interests should not adversely affect the development of other industries or the country’s economy as a whole. The Central Bank, in turn, will pay special attention to the proposed changes from the standpoint of the foundations of banking secrecy and impeccable trust in the banking system,” the regulator said.
