Central Bank creates Service for protection of rights of banking services’ consumers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan established the Service for Protection of Consumer Rights of Banking Services.

The service was established in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 9 January 2018 No.UP-5269 "On Measures for Improvement of the Activity of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan" on the basis of the Department for Work with Individuals and Legal Entities in the Central Bank.

The new service will protect the rights and legitimate interests of consumers of banking services, take measures to increase financial accessibility and the level of financial literacy of the population and business entities.

At the same time, banking services will be considered services provided by commercial banks, microcredit organizations and pawnshops. Consumers of banking services are physical persons (including those registered as individual entrepreneurs) or legal entities, which have applied to a credit institution with the intention of obtaining a banking service.

In the course of its activities, the Service will consider complaints related to violations of consumers’ rights by commercial banks, microcredit organizations and pawnshops and implement measures to eliminate such violations and restore consumers’ rights.

In order to improve and strengthen the system for protecting the rights of consumers of banking services, it is planned to create a Public Reception, where consumers can turn to get advice and clarification of the norms of the current legislation in the sphere of banking services.

The Central Bank intends to carry out systematic work to improve the norms of legislation aimed at protecting the rights of consumers of banking services and improving the quality of banking services, as well as measures to increase the financial literacy of the population and business entities.
