Central Bank: Commercial Bank is fully responsible for all actions of employees

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan adheres the position that a commercial bank is fully responsible for all actions performed by bank employees on behalf of the bank in connection with the situation around the Davr Bank. This was reported by the press service of the bank.

The regulator noted that on 7 May, the head of the Central Bank’s Consumer Banking Consumer Protection Service met with a group of citizens, who complained about the actions of Davr Bank in connection with the disappearance of funds invested in bank deposits. The statement on violation of clients' rights by the Davr Bank was accepted for further work. On the same day, the heads of the Davr Bank were invited to the Central Bank to clarify the circumstances of the stated claims.

The Central Bank adheres to the position that a commercial bank is fully responsible for all actions performed by bank employees on behalf of the bank. In this connection, the bank was given an order to settle with the citizens in the shortest possible time issues of reimbursement of damage, with subsequent recourse requirements for guilty employees, the bank said.

“If the bank does not take practical steps to resolve issues with citizens, the Central Bank is ready to impose severe sanctions up to the suspension of certain banking operations,” the regulator said.

“The response of the management of Davr Bank, including statements by officials accusing citizens for creating conditions for committing crimes, was perceived by the Central Bank as inadequate, which can serve as a basis for presenting demands on the bank’s shareholders to replace the bank’s management,” the Central bank said.

The Central Bank declares that the whole situation will be under constant control until all issues are resolved.
