Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In January-August 2021, the volume of bank cash turnover amounted to 317.4 trillion soums, and increased by 48.8 percent compared to the same period in 2020.
In particular, the volume of cash receipts to the cash departments of banks amounted to 157.6 trillion soums, and cash consumption - 159.8 trillion soums.
In January-August 2021, the volume of cash inflows to bank cards amounted to 178.1 trillion soums, at the same time, the population cashed funds from bank cards in the amount of 58.8 trillion soums (33 percent).
In January-August of this year, there was an increase in the consumption of cash through cash desks of banks (including ATMs) by 50.8 trillion soums compared to the same period in 2020. This was facilitated by an increase in the volume of cash withdrawals from bank cards by 21.4 trillion soums, as well as an increase in the volume of cash allocated for the purchase of foreign currency by 16.6 trillion soums.
Based on the volume of the demand for cash and the receipt of cash in the cash desks of banks, additional cash was issued into circulation, and in some periods there was a return of surplus cash.
As a result, as of 1 September 2021, the share of cash, which amounted to 23% in the total money supply, decreased by 5% points compared to the same period last year.
