ADB headquarters in Manila, Philippines
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- About US$21 billion will be channelled into the modernization of six transport and trade corridors of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) as part of the implementation of its Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy by 2017.

The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) country director for Tajikistan, Makoto Ojiro, has said this at a news conference held in the ADB office in Tajikistan.

The seventh ministerial conference adopted ambitious but practical plans aimed at promoting economic cooperation in the region, he said.

"The ministerial conference took place in Baku (Azerbaijan) on 20-21 November with the participation of ministers and high-ranking officials from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It adopted strategic documents that set plans in the spheres of transport, trade facilitation, trade policy and power engineering in Central Asia and neighbouring countries," Makoto Ojiro said.
