Central Asian countries and Russia discussed the prospects of Initiative budgeting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 November, key experts and representatives of five countries – the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Armenia, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Russian Federation – gathered in Tashkent to participate in a Roundtable on the topic "Initiative budgeting as an innovation of Public Finance".

Within the framework of the event, the successes and prospects of introducing Initiative Budgeting, recognized as an effective tool for economic development and increasing the transparency of public administration, were considered. The contribution of this system to raising public awareness, inclusiveness, the state of the environment, urban planning, and the quality of basic services were also discussed.

The discussion noted the importance of involving citizens in budget decisions through their participation in state and local government. 

The main attention of the round table was paid to a panel discussion on new directions of involving citizens in budget decisions, where innovative approaches to involving various social groups in the budget planning process were discussed.

The topic of training curators and participants in the process of Initiative Budgeting was also touched upon, highlighting the key aspects of training and competencies necessary to successfully manage budget projects.

The topic of using technological and software tools to support Initiative Budgeting was also touched upon, highlighting their contribution to improving the efficiency and transparency of budget processes at the regional level.

The importance of Proactive Budgeting for the older generation was also raised, emphasizing how people of retirement and pre-retirement age can contribute to public life through participation in budget initiatives.

After the event, the participants began to discuss the reports, which was the beginning of a fruitful dialogue between the countries on the development and improvement of Initiative budgeting.

The event highlighted the importance of international cooperation and exchange of experience to achieve more effective financial management in the interests of citizens and society as a whole.

Within the framework of the round table, on November 10, a field event will be organized in the Tashkent region, where the participants of the round table will visit the Kibrai district and the city of Chirchik for direct acquaintance with the projects of Initiative budgeting implemented locally.
