Uzbekistan 19/10/2007 Central Asia needs international AIDS help - Uzbek health minister
Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan is hosting the second Central Asian forum which discusses improving preventive measures against AIDS in the country and increasing their level to world standards; the role of international organizations and NGOs in this sphere; and measures to be taken in 2008.

The forum mainly aims to ensure that the disease is under control, and is being attended by representatives from more than 10 countries.

Uzbek Health Minister Feruz Nazirov has the following to say about the importance of the forum:

Minister Nazirov said This forum on fighting HIV/AIDS is quite an important one globally. Its name speaks for itself - the plague of the 20th, or rather the 21st century, which we should fight. It is quite unfortunate that the number of HIV sufferers is increasing in our region too. That is why work on this matter should involve not only the local healthcare ministry, but the whole world community too.

You can see that attendance at the forum is quite high and active.
