Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Central Asia is on the front line in the fight against terrorism, Acting Coordinator for Combating Terrorism at the U.S. Department of State Christopher Landberg stated this in his video message to the participants of the High-Level International Conference on the topic: UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy”, held in Tashkent on 3-4 March.

According to the American diplomat, "since Central Asia is at the forefront in the fight against terrorism, the Joint Action Plan for the Implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia is critical to our common security."

At the same time, Christopher Landberg noted that the United States supports and strengthens partnership potential in Central Asia on a bilateral and multilateral basis, including the C5 + 1 diplomatic platform. According to him, "this partnership contributes to regional security and makes countries more resilient and prosperous."

"We thank the Central Asian countries for their cooperation and responsibility for the repatriation of their citizens from the conflict zones in Syria," the US State Department spokesman concluded.

It should be reminded that about 500 people took part in the conference, which was held in a hybrid format with online connection of some of the participants. from 46 countries, as well as 29 international and regional organizations. The forum made it possible to demonstrate the unity and determination of the countries of Central Asia to jointly counteract common challenges and threats, the readiness of the states of the region to take coordinated and coordinated measures in order to ensure common and indivisible security.

During the conference, the Joint Action Plan for the Implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia in a new edition, as well as the Tashkent Declaration were approved.
