Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Scientific-production center “Geology of non-ferrous metals” was created under the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine (AGMK). The center will specialize on geological exploration of non-ferrous metals and associated natural resources.

Scientific-production center “Geology of non-ferrous metals” will be created on the base of Sharqiy Qurama open joint stock company, which merged to Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine.

The Government of Uzbekistan approved merger of Sharqiy Qurama OJSC and AGMK. In line with the decision, shares of Sharqiy Qurama owned by the government, State Geology Committee of Uzbekistan and its enterprises will be converted to shares of AGMK.

At the same time, Sharqiy Qurama will purchase its shares, owned by other legal entities. Shares of Sharqiy Qurama, owned by individuals, will be converted to preferential shares of AGMK.

The main tasks of the Center are:

• Participation in realization of the state policy in geological exploration, use and protecting entrails, reproduction of mineral and resource bases of non-ferrous metals and associated natural resources;
• Conducting geological exploration of entrails (search, exploration, evaluation) for further strengthening and expanding mineral and resource base of non-ferrous metals and associated natural resources;
• Supplementary exploration and methodical control of exploitation exploration of precious metals fields, handed over to AGMK;
• Execution of the state orders on increasing reserves of non-ferrous metals and associated natural resources.

In line with its main tasks, the Center will develop long-term (over three years) and mid-term (below three years) and annual programmes on exploration works of AGMK based on analysis of geological and other information on entrails.

The center will also organize geological exploration of perspective areas and growth of reserves of non-ferrous metals and associated natural resources in Uzbekistan, develop documentation on geological exploration of entrails, etc.
