CBU: Population and business entities remained wary of price stability

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the results of surveys to determine inflation expectations, in the fourth quarter of 2018, the population and business entities remained wary of price stability, both in the short and medium term. This was reflected in the dynamics of perceived inflation by the population and business entities, as well as on their inflation expectations, the press service of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reports.

However, the December level of perceived inflation was significantly lower than at the beginning of the year.

In general, during the fourth quarter, short-term expectations of individuals and legal entities, having reached their highest level in November, decreased at the end of the period, while changes in medium-term expectations were moderate and their values remained at a relatively high level.

During this period, inflationary expectations were formed in the context of rising utility tariffs, wages, prices for agricultural products and the weakening of the national currency. At the same time, by the end of the period under review, optimistic trends are observed in the dynamics of inflation expectations.
