Casting to musical “The Lion King. Returns” ends
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The second final stage of casting to children studio wrapped up in Tashkent on 21 August 2013. Some 50 children were selected to the studio by the jury.

The jury also distributed roles among children, who successfully passed the casting. Fund Forum and Women’s Council organized the project.

The first stage of the casting was held on 10-13 August and 20 August. About 94 of 182 applicants passed to the second round.

Gulnara Karimov, Mikhail Anisimov, Rustam Hamraqulov, Natalya Krugova, Fatima Jurabaeva, Murad Rajabov, Husan Salihov and others were among the jury.

The final casting was held on 21 August and each participant should sing a song and perform a dance, as well as read monologue. The jury also gave tasks to children to determine role of each of them in new musical.

The project author Gulnara Karimov said that the organizers want to present musical “The Lion King. Returns” after the first musical “The Lion King” was presented 10 years ago. She said that the organizers want to make it professionally.

She said that the musical will be in three languages, and major part of songs will be in original English language. She said that the play will be in Uzbek and songs in English, and decision was adopted to make premier in Russian.

Gulnara Karimov underlined that it is planned to present the musical in October within the Art Week Style.uz.

Training at the studio will be conducted in four age groups in two blocks. First block will include small group (children at the age of 5-6), medium group (children at the age of 7-10) and higher group (children at the age of 11-15) and the second block –youth group (people at the age between 15 and 20).

The curriculum of the studio will include such disciplines as vocals, choreography, acting, scenic drama, script writing and more.
