Cash turnover through bank cash desks for January-September 2019 makes up 195.1 trillion soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Cash turnover through bank cash desks for January-September 2019 made up 195.1 trillion soums and compared with the same period of last year increased by 1.7 times, according to the press service of the Central Bank.

If for 9 months of 2017, an average of 15.2 percent of cash in circulation was received at bank cash desks, then for 9 months of 2018 this figure averaged 28.7 percent, and for the same period of the current year made up 43.1 percent (in in particular, in September - 53.2 percent).

In particular, the share of cash issued from banks’ cash desks for the purchase of foreign currency for 9 months of 2019 compared to the same period of 2017 increased from 9.1 percent to 21.9 percent, and cash withdrawals from bank cards increased from 6, 1 percent to 25.5 percent.

In January-September 2019, cash worth 25.3 trillion soums was withdrawn from bank cards or 32% of funds credited to bank cards during this period (79.0 trillion soums).

In January-September 2017, 1.8 trillion soums were withdrawn from bank cards, which amounted to 4.8% of the amount credited to the cards (38.1 trillion soums).

In January-September 2019, cash withdrawn through ATMs reached 17.3 trillion soums and compared to the same period last year, increased 7.3 times.

As a result, if for 9 months of 2017 the share of withdrawn funds through ATMs in the total amount of cash withdrawn from bank cards was 1.5 percent, then in the same period of 2018 this indicator increased to 34.4 percent, and for 9 months of 2019 years - 68.5 percent.

As you can see indicators of the volume of cash withdrawals from bank cards, including the amount of cash withdrawn through ATMs, have a tendency to increase.

In the structure of revenues received in the field of trade and the provision of services, as well as in other areas, there is a decrease in the share of payments through bank cards.

So, if in January-September 2017 the share of revenues through payment terminals in the total revenue reached 63.9 percent, then in January-September 2018 this figure was 44.8 percent, in January-September of the current year it was 34.9 percent.

This situation may be explained by the increasing preference of the population and business entities for making payments for goods and services in cash.
