Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the first three months of 2024, cargo transportation volumes in Uzbekistan made up 14.7 million tons.
At the beginning of 2023, the volume of road cargo transportation was 3 million tons, including 0.8 million tons of export, 1.7 million tons of import and 0.493 million tons of transit cargo. In 2024, this volume increased to 3.3 million tons, an increase of 9.6% compared to the same period last year. Export cargo increased to 0.96 million tons (+19.0%), import cargo increased to 1.8 million tons (+7.0%), and transit cargo increased to 0.509 million tons (+3.2%).
In the first three months of 2023, the volume of air cargo transportation amounted to 17.69 thousand tons, including 2.23 thousand tons of export, 13.7 thousand tons of import and 1.8 thousand tons of transit cargo. In 2024, this volume increased to 18.49 thousand tons, which is 4.5% more than the same period in 2023. Export cargo increased to 2.3 thousand tons (+3.3%), import cargo to 14.3 thousand tons (+4.7%), and transit cargo to 1.9 thousand tons (+4.5%) .
Uzbekistan Airways operated 7,117 flights and carried 1,097.8 thousand passengers from January to March 2023. In 2024, the number of scheduled flights increased to 8,096, which is 13.1% more, and the number of passengers carried increased to 1,231.8 thousand people, which is 12.0% more than the same period last year.
At the beginning of 2023, the volume of railway cargo transportation reached 15.1 million tons, including 2.8 million tons of export, 6.1 million tons of import and 3.2 million tons of transit cargo. In 2024, this volume fell to 11.3 million tons, a 6.0% decrease compared to last year. This is due to a decrease in the transportation of imported goods to 5.2 million tons (-15.1%). At the same time, transportation of export cargo increased to 2.9 million tons (+5.2%), and transit cargo to 3.2 million tons (+1.6%).
