Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) analyzes the situation on the car market of Uzbekistan on a monthly basis.

According to the results of the first half of 2023, car sales amounted to 718.2 thousand, 11% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, in the second quarter of 2023, compared to the second quarter of last year, sales increased by 14%, the volume of sales exceeded 372 thousand cars.

In general, in June, the number of vehicles sold amounted to 123 thousand, with a noticeable drop by 21% by May and an increase of 2.6% by June last year.

During the first summer month, 110.5 thousand passenger cars were sold in Uzbekistan, having decreased by 21.6% over the month.

The largest decline in passenger car sales was recorded in Syrdarya – by 36%, Bukhara regions – by 34% and the city of Tashkent – by 34%. At the same time, compared to the same period last year, sales increased by 0.9%.

The situation in the primary car market

Sales of passenger cars in the primary market for the month decreased by 17.5%. At the same time, compared to June 2022, the primary market registered an increase of 8.4%.

Sales of new passenger cars of domestic production amounted to almost 24 thousand, having decreased by 20% by May.

The market of passenger cars

The number of sales of new foreign-made passenger cars amounted to 3.7 thousand, with an increase of 14%.

The situation in the secondary car market

The secondary car market of passenger cars in June was also marked by a decline in sales. During the month, almost 83 thousand passenger cars were sold, which is 23% less than in May.

Electric vehicle market

In the first half of 2023, sales of electric vehicles amounted to 7.6 thousand, with an annual growth of 1.7 times. At the same time, 5.4 thousand were sold in the second quarter, which is 2 times more than a year earlier.

In June, sales of passenger electric vehicles increased by 8.7% and amounted to 2.1 thousand. The city of Tashkent remains the leader in sales of electric vehicles – 1.6 thousand. In Tashkent and Ferghana regions, 105 and 102 units were sold, respectively.

Sales in the primary market of electric vehicles in June increased by 14%, in the secondary market decreased by 8.5%.
